Medical Answering Service - Professional people

Usually when thinking about medical answering service, doctors and health professionals question themselfes if the idea should be to go for a new provider of a typical call center service. It is not an easy answer to provide because regarding medical answering services and in general with doctor answering service, you can find a lot of different companies with a different approach .

To start to consider what sort of company you want to hire or contract for your medical answering service, you need to understand the background of the company and the details they provide the service. Doctors want people with previous experience and with a obvious medical background, but it is important to understand that medical answering service don’t have to be experts, in many cases they have nurses that have decided to work from home or retired doctors, but also assistant nurses or paramedic have been known in working in this industry

Now, there is always doctors answering service and the main difference with the general health care answering service is that in the first one obviously is provided by doctors or for doctors, not onlways the people that get the call don’t have to be providing a service for “emergency” calls, sometimes the calls can just be plain queions that any General doctor can answer without providing a serious diagnosis. The idea is that the person that recieves the call is not there to diagnose the caller or to order medicament, instead their job is to provide some orientation and help for the caller to understand what is the best procedure to take in their medical enquiry.

  1. I believe that there should be a special course for people that want to work in medical answering sphere. They should have very good social and practical medicine skills. After the course they should be tested in a number of simulations to see if they don’t get lost if a calling person is very scared or shouts. They should also have a line with any available doctors (something on doctors phone to mark if doctor is busy) to seek advise.

  2. Maybe a good idea would be to have a trained professional do the job like state above. Or maybe some one who is going through medical school, but already has a degree in a related field….

  3. The medical answering service is a very good option. In some cases where just a simple talk can solve the matter, then why go to a doctor and spend hundreds and thousands for consultation. But it must be considered that these services can’t replace the doctors as maximum times we will have to go for a treatment or checkups.

  4. this works actually not a big deal, being in the proficient is like being a 911 answer caller, often all what we have to do just to calm down the panic patient that there are not alone, that they just find, and ok,until the doctor come and give a hand
